The photos are beautiful, Karen. Thank you. If I can’t get out in nature, the next best thing is looking at pictures of it. Many of these shots remind me of the San Francisco Bay Area where, even in the midst of suburban sprawl, you can view rolling brown hills and live oak trees and vistas of the Pacific Ocean. What would we do without it?

I’m with you on the importance of gratitude – it’s a wonderful feeling to enjoy ourselves, but it also helps us to become more aware of the resources that we use, have been blessed with, and are passing on.

Each evening before I turn out my light, I write in my Gratitude Journal 5 things from that day I’m grateful for. Here’s a sample.
Today I’m grateful…
1. for the smell of rain on a dusty day
2 for the sight of the blossoms bursting on a tree
3 for the sound of birdsong in the evening
4 for the taste of clean fresh water
5 for the touch of sand on my bare feet.
Let’s hope there will never be a time when we don’t have these natural pleasures.
